The 5th Meeting of Typography is organized by the Design Department
of the Superior School of Technology (EST) of the Polytechnic Institute
of Cávado and Ave (IPCA) and is being held in Barcelos, Portugal.
This year’s meeting takes it’s theme “UBIQUITOUS” from the typography’s quality of existing everywhere, or almost everywhere, in it’s diferent contexts and aplications.
The main objective is to stimulate the dissemination, reflection and discussion about typographic research and development on a national
and international scale. To do so, we will have a program that includes
the participation of researchers, practitioners, teachers and students and their investigations or professional experientes dedicated to typography.
Paralel to the presentations program, there will be invited keynote speakers with an excellence path in the constantly evolving world
of typography, as well as a discussion panel, an exhibitions, workshops
and social events.
We aim to combine investigation, education, and professional activity,
as well as contribute to a rich cooperation and sharing of creative ideas within the typographic community.

The I Encontro Nacional de Tipografia, held in May 2010, organized by the Escola Superior de Arte e Design das Caldas da Rainha (Instituto Politécnico de Leiria).
The II Encontro Nacional de Tipografia held in September 2011 by the
Department of Communicationand Arts (DeCA) da Universidade de Aveiro.

The III Encontro de Tipografia took place in October 2012, in Porto and was organized by the Departamento de Artes da Imagem da Escola Superior de Música, Artes e Espetáculo (Instituto Politécnico do Porto), and Instituto de Investigação em Design, Media e Cultura e da Escola Superior de Arte e Design (Matosinhos).
The IV Encontro de Tipografia held in September 2013, was organized by the Unidade Técnico Científica de Design, Audiovisuais e Produção dos Media associated to the Centro de Investigação em Música, Artes e Design (CIMAD) of Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas (ESART) Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco (IPCB).

The organization of the 5th Meeting of Typography, with the subject “UBIQUITOUS”, calls for submission and presentation of originals short papers or posters, academic contributions and/or professional in various application of typographic contexts:

• Typography and Identity
• Typography and media technologies
• Education, history and critical studies on typography
• Typography and its contexts
submission rules
The submission of papers and posters (academic and/ or professional) must be made electronically through the EasyChair online submission system.
The papers and posters will be judged by the Scientific and Technical Committee under Double-blind peer review, which may suggest corrections to submissions.
Submissions can not contain elements that identify their authors.
The submission system will hold a record that meets the following parameters:
• Title;
• Summary until 500 words;
• Category (short papers, scientific posters or project posters);
• Keywords;
• Topics (subject areas);
• File attachment with the short paper (3000 words on .doc or .docx)
or posters (.pdf).

• References formatted in APA Standard
posters
Posters may be accepted in two main areas: scientific (resulting from an investigation and making use of an explicit theme, goals, state of the art, methodology, hypothesis, results, bibliography) and professional or academic projects (finished or in progress).
presentation
The presentation should be prepared for 15 minutes maximum.
Before the 5th Meeting of Typography, authors should send their paper presentation file (PowerPoint or. Pdf).
Files will not be accepted on the days of the Meeting.
publication
The accepted papers and posters will be published in electronic format online, with ISBN.
