Rui Abreu studied communication design at the Faculty of Fine Arts
in Porto and graduated in 2003. Whilst student made the first approaches to typographic design, and launched his first font in 2006. Launched
the site r-typography.com in 2008, with a selection of his typographic work. Since 2009, Rui Abreu has published his main fonts with
the Swedish type foundry Fountain, including the awarded Orde and Aria.
Joana Correia was born in Porto (1979) and has a degree in Architecture from FAUP in 2003. Worked as an architect until 2008 when he decided
to explore his passion for graphic design and attended a degree
in Communication Design at ESAD Matosinhos. After her graduation she went to the UK where she completed her MA in Typeface Design
at Reading University (UK) in the prestigious Department of Typography and Graphic Communication.
Since 2011 she’s been teaching Typography and Type Design at ESAD.
She works as a freelance type designer developing new fonts and collaborates with companies like Google, SorkinType and FontYou. Finds great pleasure in teaching typography either on school time or
at conferences.
Member of the Association Typographic Internationale (ATypI) since 2010, supporting the organization in the annual events.
Dino dos Santos (n.1971) is the founder of DSType. With a degree
in Communication Design from the ESAD – Matosinhos and a Master
in Media Arts from the School of Fine Arts, University of Porto, he teaches Typography Studies at ESAD – School of Art & Design, Matosinhos.
He designed fonts for various national and international organizations such as Newsweek, New York Times Magazine, Le Figaro, La Tercera,
La Voz de Galicia, Electronic Arts, among many others. Was awarded
the Certificate of Excellence in Type Design, awarded by the Type Directors Club of New York and the Creative Review Type Design Awards. The DSType work has been presented in several publications that includes the Eye magazine, Computer Arts, Creative Review, Page, Graphik
and Slanted , and books like 1000 Fonts, TDC 29 Annual, Typography, Creative Characters, Brush ‘n’ Script and Fraktur mon Amour. Designed several fonts internationally awarded, such as Acta, Andrade, Style, Glosa, Leitura and Ventura.
The work of DSType is referenced in the Klingspor – Museum Offenbach in Germany. He is a member of the Type Directors Club and ATypI (Association Internationale Typographique). Contributes regularly
at conferences, seminars and workshops.
Tiffany Wardle de Sousa is a typographer living and working in San Jose, California. She earned her MA in the Theory and History of Typography
& Graphic Communication at The University of Reading. Active in
the type community, Tiffany has written for several design publications, served as a SOTA board member, and is a moderator on Typophile.
