Ethics & Values in Hospitality and Tourism Management 2nd Edition

This module will introduce students to the latest research, issues and challenges in the hospitality and tourism industry in the context of ethics and values. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals provide a framework for the module.

The module is developed by and offered as a Short-Advanced Programme (SAP) in conjunction with TUS: Midlands-Midwest (Athlone) and NHL Stenden, offered through the RUN-EU network. As such, a period of international mobility forms a core part of the module. Eligible students will be required to take an international fieldtrip to the partner and will work collaboratively with students from all RUN-EU partner institutions on the SAP.

The aim of the module is to develop in students a critical understanding of ethical and value related research relevant to hospitality management and to provide experience of learning in a field-based setting.

The theme of this edition will focus on the topic of sex tourism and trafficking, aiming to explore the complex intersection of both. Students of the SAP will gain an in-depth understanding of the global dynamics, legal frameworks, and socio-economic factors influencing these issues. The students will delve into case studies, ethical considerations, and strategies for prevention and intervention. This advanced course equips students with the knowledge and tools to critically analyse and address the challenges surrounding sex tourism and trafficking in the field of Hospitality and Tourism.
