Energy autonomy or energy self-sufficiency? What is often confused in the press is a central question for the future energy system, especially in rural regions in Europe. In this Challenge SAP, we want to take a look at the difference between the two terms and use the example of Vorarlberg to show that only energy autonomy, but not energy self-sufficiency, can lead to a sustainable energy system. In short impulse lectures the students will learn important basics, which they will further deepen in a playful approach in group work. The goal is to develop a vision for Vorarlberg's energy system in 2040 and to reflect on its transferability to the regions of the other RUN partners. Due to the interdisciplinary approach of the Challenge-SAP, participation is not only possible for students from technical courses, but also for students from all other disciplines with an interest in energy systems of the future.
