SAP Challenge 'European Values and the 2024 European Parliament Elections'

The "European Values and the 2024 European Parliament Elections" course provides a comprehensive exploration of European values and their intersection with the upcoming European Parliament elections. Students, as European Union citizens, will gain a profound understanding of the nuances of the EU (its importance, its vulnerabilities and its main challenges), the European Parliament, and EU citizenship.

Using online sessions as a springboard, students will critically analyze a selected European value, considering its relevance in contemporary Europe. This exploration is intrinsically tied to the 2024 elections, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the European electoral process and its implications.

The course's second part, hosted at NHL Stenden, Leeuwarden, empowers students/European citizens to translate their theoretical knowledge into practical projects, highlighting the tangible impact of European values on society and policy-making. The project outcomes are anticipated to stimulate active participation in the democratic processes and foster an increased EU citizenship awareness.

Skills honed include teamwork, critical thinking, research, project planning, presentation skills, and peer reviewing - all highly valued in the modern labour market. By fostering an in-depth understanding of European values and the democratic processes of the European Union, students are better prepared to navigate and contribute to the evolving European socio-political landscape.
