Attention all adventurous and tech- and non-tech-savvy students! This SAP is not your typical classroom setting - you'll be exploring the picturesque city of Leeuwarden AND the stunning landscapes of the island of Terschelling while putting your hacking skills to the test.
“Hack Your Device, Explore an Island. Fundamentals of Cyber Security.” is a SAP coordinated by NHL Stenden, together with the Polytechnic of Leiria, IPCA, TUS, and FHV. You will work in groups to perform a so-called penetration test for an ‘Internet of Things’ device of your choosing! This means you will learn how to actually hack this device - a chance to show off your creativity and problem-solving abilities. The final result is a formal pentesting report and a presentation, next to having had a whole lot of fun. The course requires some basic computer knowledge and a level of comfort with computers and technology.
We focus on diagnosing and investigating IoT-related threats, detecting current and future attacks, communicating effectively to address information security issues, and apply business principles to analyze and interpret data for planning, decision-making, and problem solving in an information security environment. Participants will gain a basic introduction to cybersecurity, including network security and cryptography. The workshop also includes a session on intercultural competence and working in (neuro)diverse teams. This is an opportunity to gain valuable highly practical insights and knowledge on the Internet of Things, Cyber Security and pentesting in a fun and exciting way, relevant for the future labour market. Join us on this adventure!
