Sustainable & Inclusive Marketing Strategies

The movement toward development and implementation of sustainable marketing strategies that are inclusive of society and the environment are critical to the future survival of the planet. Historically, marketing strategies have been the driver of fast consumption and a disposable culture that has had a negative impact on the world. With this greater awareness and consciousness of the negative consequences, there needs to be a renewed approach to finding more sustainable, holistic marketing strategies. In addition, given the increased diversity of our society we need to ensure that all marketing strategies are not just sustainable but also inclusive of all.

All organisations (profit and non-profit) now work in a dynamic and challenging environment and are in need of robust advice on matters relating to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Goal 16 requires us to “promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels”.

This Short Advanced Programme (SAP) is one part of a stackable set of 3 SAPs under the theme of Sustainable Digital Marketing. The other 2 SAPs include Impactful Content Creation and Ethics in the Digital Age. The SAPs can also be followed as standalone modules.

The objective of this SAP is to provide interdisciplinary students from across the RUN EU network (future graduate global citizens) with an awareness of an ethical and sustainable approach to designing and implementing marketing strategies within the organisations they will work with and for that contributes to the triple bottom line of planet, people and profits. In the future it is hoped that all organisations will adapt socially responsible marketing practices and our students will be leaders in this area. This SAP will not only identify current tools and models of marketing strategy but it will also apply these to a real-life non-profit organisation/Public Sector Institution. The SAP will be delivered using principals of Universal Design Learning (UDL).
